The Chief Justice, Hon. Justice Bart M. Katureebe, on Friday (May 4, 2018) presided over the handover ceremony for the old Uganda Judicial Officers Association(UJOA) Executive to the new one.

HW Godfrey Kaweesa, the Association president thanked the Chief Justice, who is the patron of Association, for standing by the old Executive and appealed to him to do the same for the new Executive.

HW Kaweesa appealed to the CJ to ensure that the UJOA Executive is appointed on different committees as representatives of the majority. He added that the Executive should equally be invited to attend and witness official judicial functions.

The UJOA Executive thanked the Chief Justice for launching the UJOA five-year Strategic Investment Plan in which among key the projects is construction of UJOA House.

HW Kaweesa further expressed his gratitude to the Chief Justice for the sitting space provided at the Supreme Court and Buganda Road Court as the Associations awaits its new home.

The Chief Justice said the Judiciary would continue working with and supporting UJOA, but urged the Association to make realistic demands.

Supreme Court Justice, Hon. Lady Justice Stella Arach Amoko, one of the oldest members of UJOA, appreciated UJOA' s continued support to the Chief Justice in fighting corruption.

The climax of the function was when the Chief Justice awarded the old Executive appreciation awards for their service to the judicial officers' body.
